Your Art Supplies (Website)
While working in art materials retail for over a decade, I was tasked with redesigning the company's ecommerce website.
I investigated many options and ultimately decided to go with Magento 2, a powerful and popular ecommerce platform that was, at the time, just acquired by Adobe. Their additional boost in support/community was a big factor in the decision.
My work was in much part design and logistics: finding the right VPS host, choosing what plugins to use and which to create in-house, and designing the site to be as user-friendly for the unique needs of the store and its customers.
The branding needed a slight update, so I proposed a new text-only logo while keeping the particular color gradient everyone was familiar with. This allowed for the clean look of the site to stay consistent.
I also developed a custom data migration tool and process to keep the online store in sync with the physical store's inventory, pricing, and customer data.
The store's various coupon codes and promotions were also a challenge to implement, as they were very specific to the store's needs. But I was able to create a custom module to handle the various promotions.
Given the opportunity to provide customers with an online store that can match our physical presense, I ensured we provided as much data as possible for the customer to be able to filter and narrow down their search results. This was accomplished with a bit of data scraping and data cleaning from various vendors' provided infomation sheets.
When Covid-19 hit, we were able to quickly pivot to a curbside pickup model. With that small change and the rest of the site already in place, we were able to continue to serve our customers through the pandemic without hiccup.
The chosen system and my customizations have proven to be a success, and the store continues to grow its online presence.
Promotion and sale graphics are created by the store's graphic designer.
